Hong Kong artists specializing in ink painting often incorporate calligraphy to enhance their work, integrating dots, lines, and colophons. Some artists explore calligraphy-related elements, such as words and symbols, to express contemporary views of calligraphy and painting from a single source.
In contrast, Middle Eastern art, predominantly influenced by Islam, focuses on abstract patterns and calligraphy rather than representational forms. This exhibition is the first to showcase Middle Eastern calligraphic art alongside Hong Kong works, highlighting contemporary calligraphic trends from different global cultures.
