I ntangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Mart 2022, the highlight of Hong Kong Culture Festival, will be held from 14 to 16 Oct 2022 at the Tai Kwun and Central Market. The 3-day event will showcase a wide range of time-honoured customs and traditional craftsmanship, which aims to bring an eventful weekend to the public and revitalise valuable local cultural legacies for the public to explore the ICH in Hong Kong. ICH Mart 2022 is a carnival market featuring an array of game booths, workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations of dragon dance, lion dance and Hakka unicorn dance, and performances, including puppetry, Hakka kung fu and Lingnan martial arts.

Flower Board Crafting Workshop (All reservations are full)

Mr. Choi Wing Kei, master of flower board maker, will teach the techniques of flower board crafting. Participants will work together to decorate the six-foot tall flower board. The board will be exhibited at Parade Ground during the ICH Mart.

Mahjong Tile Crafting Workshop (All reservations are full)

Master Cheung Shun King, a famous hand-carved mahjong artisan, will introduce the history of this art and teach the basic techniques of hand-carved mahjong. Participants can design the pattern and carve.

Shadow Puppetry Making Workshop (All reservations are full)

Ms. Chong and Ms. Wong, an expert in making shadow puppety, will teach the participants to make an animal shadow puppet. Mr. Chong will also demonstrate the techniques to control shadow puppets.

Hakka Unicorn Making Workshop (All reservations are full)

Master. Li Man Man, a skilled artisan, will introduce the Hakka unicorn paper-crafting tools and participants can DIY a hakka unicorn during the workshop.

Dit Da Jow Making Workshop (All reservations are full)

Chinese medical physician Dr. Tsui Sze Ho will explain the principle, function and correct application of dit da jow. Participants will DIY a dit da jow and learn basic tui na massage skills.

Provided by forachange’s Chinese Knot Button Instructor, Trinny Li, will lead this workshop in teaching how to make an adhesive paste and knot buttons.
