I n the 1970s it was Lau Kar Leung and his celebrated Lau family’s crew, who apprised the role as Wong Fei Hung re-interpreter, and gave contemporary expression to the legend. As part of the powerful Shaw Brothers’ engine, Lau Kar Leung’s films dominated Hong Kong’s Kung Fu film genre for two decades. More than any other film-makers before him, Lau Kar Leung brought his considerable expertise as a genuine Kung Fu master to bear, in the process inventing a cinematic Kung Fu language which introduced a new level of realism to martial arts choreography.

6 Kung Fu films directed by Lau Kar Leung will be screened to pay tribute to this legendary Kung Fu master.
